Unreal-Style Flying & Navigation
Hold right mouse to look and fly with familiar game-style controls.
Highlights
- Hold RMB for smooth mouse-look and release to stop
- WASD movement with Q / E vertical controls
- Mouse wheel speed adjustment while flying
- Quick RMB clicks preserve Blender's context menus
- Supports locked camera-view navigation
Blenderflow adds familiar game-style flying directly to the 3D viewport while preserving Blender's normal right-click menus.
Start flying
Move your cursor over the 3D viewport and hold the right mouse button. After a short hold, moving the mouse controls your view direction and the movement keys become active.
Release the right mouse button when you are finished. Blenderflow restores the normal orbit and zoom distance so regular viewport navigation continues to feel natural.
Orthographic views
Unreal-style navigation also adapts to orthographic projection without switching the viewport to perspective or collapsing its visible scale:
- W / S smoothly zoom in and out.
- A / D pan horizontally relative to the view.
- Q / E pan vertically relative to the view.
- Mouse movement rotates the orthographic view while right mouse remains held.
Controls
| Action | Control |
|---|---|
| Look around | Hold RMB and move the mouse |
| Move forward / backward | W / S |
| Strafe left / right | A / D |
| Move up / down | Q / E |
| Increase / decrease speed | Mouse wheel up / down |
| Finish flying | Release RMB |
| Cancel | Esc |
Tip: scroll while flying to quickly cover a large scene, then reduce the speed again for precise placement.
Right-click menus still work
A quick right-click opens Blender's normal context menu for the current mode. Flying starts only after holding RMB for roughly 0.18 seconds, so clicking and flying can share the same button without an extra shortcut.
Modifier-assisted right-clicks are passed through to Blender unchanged.
Navigate a camera
When you are looking through the active camera with Lock Camera to View enabled, the same controls move and rotate the camera itself. Outside locked camera view, they move only the viewport.
Default movement feel
Blenderflow uses smooth buffered mouse-look and a moderate starting speed. Each flying session starts at the default speed, and mouse-wheel adjustments affect the current session only.
